Films at the Farm

With its open fields and long history, Horsham is a fantastic place for moody, exciting, and historical films. Here are a few of the films that have been recorded on property owned by HPHA.

Films Shot at Strawbridge-Penrose Farm

Apparition, Released 2016

The independent movie Apparition (IMDB) (formerly Remorse) was filmed on location at the Penrose Strawbridge House for about 3 weeks in June 2013. About 85 percent of the story is set at the farmhouse with the rest in the Horsham/Hatboro area including Mann Road and at Village Hardware in Hatboro.

It was released on DVD May 26,2015, and screened at the New Hope Film Festival July 23, 2016.

Directed by Quinn Saunders, Apparition is a psychological thriller about an architect from Philadelphia, Doug (played by Bucks County native Jody Quiqley), his fiancée Lori (south Jersey’s Katrina Law, and their new friend Jaime (Lili Bordan).

The Penrose Strawbridge House stars as the old farmhouse that Doug and Lori intend to restore.

The film also features local Hatboro actor Thomas Roy and producer Jon Lutz from Bucks County.

Lori, in the film, is an artist and the walls of the house were adorned with beautiful art works loaned to the production by local artists Lauren Acton, James McCutcheon, and Julianne Snyder.


Undaunted, Released 2018

Undaunted is an independent film shot on location at the Penrose Strawbridge Farm in Horsham in December 2017. Directed by Matt Strelecki, Undaunted tells the story of a young GI who defies orders and prevents an atrocity during WWII. In December 2018 the film was selected to compete in the Los Angeles’ Indie Short Fest.
