Learn more about the history of Penrose-Strawbridge farm and the amazing transformation of the main house.

Graeme Park

Graeme Park’s rich history dates back to 1684, when William Penn sold a 5,088 acre parcel to Samuel Carpenter.

Cold Spring Farm

The stone four-story homestead, which was built in 1795 and expanded in 1810, appears to be built on the foundations of an earlier structure probably dating to 1716, making this home one of the oldest in Horsham Township.

United Capital Farmhouse

The farmhouse was built c. 1840 and the owner prior to United Capital was Doris Chesterson, Ms Chesterson’s aunt did this painting of house in 1951

Novotny House

The Novotny House at 100 Chestnut Lane in Horsham is named for its previous owners, but dates to around 1753. The building was scheduled for demolition but was saved through the work of HPHA, Horsham Township Council, the Horsham Historical Commission, and private partners.

There’s Always Something Going on at HPHA

We don’t just preserve history, we provide opportunities to build a community.

We have published a pictorial “History of Horsham” book that is available for sale.

The Penrose Strawbridge House has served as the set for several recent films, including Apparition, a psychological thriller, Undaunted, which was selected to compete in the Los Angeles indie Short Fest, and another film that was shot in 2022 and is in post-production.
